Farmers, construction companies and others working in challenging outdoor environments will soon have the option of buying a UK-built electric pick-up truck after Scottish EV manufacturer Munro revealed its new model.
Unveiled today (19 May) at energy and EV show Fully Charged Live North, the Mk_1 Pick-Up was positioned as an “ultra-capable, ultra-utilitarian pick-up” in a Munro announcement.
The Pick-Up follows in the wheel tracks of the Munro MK_1 Truck, launched last December. Like the Truck, the Pick-Up is designed to enable customers in sectors such as mining, construction, utilities, agriculture and defence to meet imminent decarbonisation targets “without compromising on performance”, with features designed for reliability and easy repairability.
The rear bed on the standard model can carry a 1,050kg Euro Pallet payload, while the unveiled Performance model has a 3,500kg maximum braked towing capacity. Applications could include carrying farming tools and livestock, Munro said, or delivering disaster relief equipment.
With a maximum peak power output of 375kW and 700Nm of torque, the Pick-Up can sprint to 60mph in just 4.9s. A 220kW electric motor and a choice of Utility and Range variants are also available.
Charging the 82.4kWh battery from 15-80% takes just 36 minutes using a 100kW DC charger, Munro said. A range of more than 305km (190 miles) will enable up to 16 hours of operation on a single battery charge, the company added.
Designed, engineered and built in Britain, the Munro is the first light vehicle to enter production in Scotland in more than four decades.

“Priced from £49,995 ex VAT with deliveries commencing later this year, we have already secured more than 200 orders for the MK_1 Pick-Up… With a full two-year order book for both the MK_1 Pick-Up and the MK_1 Truck, Munro is having to expedite its search for larger premises to meet customer demand.”
